Thick Loam × Frost Edge

Relationship · feeding cycle, Earth feeds Metal (Thick Loam grows Frost Edge's edge).

Portrait · a steady base gives the decision its nerve. Thick Loam's bearing and groundedness lay a foundation under Frost Edge's sharpness that won't collapse, so the blade dares to cut because it knows someone catches what falls. What Metal returns to Earth is a clear boundary, drawing a "this far" for that too-accommodating ground.

Feeding view (Earth to Metal) · what they give is nerve and a backstop, letting the other make hard calls. But they endure so well they treat the other's edge as theirs to absorb, so they let Metal take a cut for them too.

Fed view (Metal to Earth) · what they borrow is the other's steadiness, sparing them the isolation of carrying it alone. They don't treat the other's backstop as unlimited credit, and turn their edge to guarding the other sometimes, not only to drawing their own lines.

How they work · (1) Earth states its limit clearly, so Metal doesn't assume this ground holds anything. (2) Metal uses its sense of boundary to cut off some of Earth's drain first. (3) decisions go to Metal, the backstop to Earth, but they swap when tired.

Reverse check · when did Metal last turn its edge to guarding Earth, rather than only to drawing its own principle?
